Our Team

Scott McHugo

Scott McHugo

Scott serves as CEO and Chairman of the Board for Sol-Go. Prior to founding Sol-Go in August 2019, from 2014-2019 he was responsible for the P&L of a $25M/year business unit in SunPower, a $2B year solar company located in Silicon Valley California.

Previously, McHugo was the CTO of Sunpreme, a solar energy start-up co-located in China and Silicon Valley, and has also held a number of senior management positions at REC, Johnson & Johnson, and Hewlett Packard/Agilent.

Scott has 23 years experience in the solar industry: from R&D to MFG to Product Management to Sales and Marketing. His mantra is find the unmet need in the market and then deliver a solution with a sustainable, differentiated advantage over pre-existing or previously attempted solutions.

McHugo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, a Master’s degree in Materials Science from Duke University and a Doctorate degree in Materials Science from the University of California at Berkeley, studying solar cells.

Craig Hillman

Craig Hillman

Craig Hillman is currently the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) of Sol-Go. He previously served as Director of Product Management of New and Emerging Technologies and Director of Software Development for Ansys. Dr. Hillman joined Ansys after a successful acquisition of DfR Solutions, which he founded and was the CEO. Prior to acquisition, DfR Solutions was recognized as the leader in reliability simulation software for electronics, with over 75% of the Top 50 electronic OEMs as its customers. Exit resulted in a 20:1 return for initial investors and a greater than 10:1 valuation on revenue. Dr. Hillman currently sits on the Board of Directors for Sol-Go and GaitBetter and is actively involved in the investor community, including as a Mentor for Impact Ventures and a Partner in NextGen Ventures. Dr. Hillman holds a Ph.D. in materials science from the University of California – Santa Barbara and a B.S. in metallurgical engineering and materials science from Carnegie Mellon.

 Kirsten Cabanas-Holmen

Kirsten Cabanas-Holmen

Kirsten is Sol-Go’s Product Manager for the wide range of solar panels that Sol-Go offers. She has nearly 15 years of experience in Solar Energy, working primarily in photovoltaic module R&D and testing. Prior to that, she worked in manufacturing and characterizing image sensors for Agilent Technologies, Ball Aerospace, and Pelco. Kirsten is physically based in the Pacific Northwest and is fluent in English, Norwegian and conversational Spanish.

Donna Balmaceda

Donna Balmaceda

Donna is responsible for Sol-Go’s Southeast Asia Operations.  She is physically based in the Philippines.  

Prior to joining Sol-Go, she had 20 years of experience in Manufacturing and Supply Chain management, 14 years of which is in the Solar industry. She loves setting up processes and tools that helps ease the flow of communication, materials and finished goods  across the supply chain.  

One of her life goals is to help make solar become one of the mainstream source of energy.

Iain Garner

Iain Garner

Iain serves as head of sales and business operations in Europe. Iain has worked in solar since 1983 with PV module manufacturers and in the supply chain with distributors, wholesalers and installers. Focus has ranged from off-grid industrial systems for oil and telecom companies in the Mid-East and Africa, to large scale residential grid connect projects in Europe.

Iain started a consulting business for clients across Europe, and began to focus on the UK when feed-in-tariffs were announced in 2010. Starting in May 2018 Iain joined SunPower Corporation, responsible for sales of the flexible solar panels for off-grid markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Iain is based in Cheltenham UK and also volunteers as a director for the Gloucestershire Community Energy Coop.

Norika Kuo

Norika Kuo

Norika is responsible for Sol-Go’s business operations including accounting, logistics, sales support, and inventory management in North America. Prior to joining Sol-Go, she has more than 10 years of experience in business operations, including accounting, HR, benefits, insurance, and legal. She is physically based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Norika is trilingual in English, Chinese and Japanese.
